Is now a good time to list your home for sale?
Although the Annapolis Valley is warm right now, November 9th, 2009, winter is definitely in the air. As with what happens every winter, potential sellers wonder if there is any point to putting their home up for sale. What with snow, slush, cold weather, blistering days of winter, we all think it's too inconvenient, there are no buyers who would bother to look at this time of year.
This could not be further from the truth. The truth is there are buyers who are looking, some who MUST move, transfers moving to the area, and that has nothing to do with the time of year or the current weather conditions. Home sales happen all year round. Those looking to move into a home sometime early 2010, will be looking now. Even if they are planning to move in the Spring, some buyers will start to see what's on the market, and may even offer with the hopes of closing sometime late Winter, early Spring, which is okay with most sellers, because they probably would have taken the house of the market anyway. Knowing that your house is sold, you can breathe, and enjoy the Winter, and take your time to pack.
It is also less competitive, which means you are likely to get a better price for your home than if you were up against a lot of other similiar properties.
