November Tip of the Month, brought to you by Canadian Residential Inspection Services
Now that the leaves have fallen from the trees, it's a good time to clean out twigs, leaves and debris from your gutters. Check that your downspouts drain at least 8 feet away from your foundation walls. This will keep excess water from pooling around your exterior basement walls and may prevent dampness and/or leaking in your basement or crawl spaces. A splash block at the end of the extension from your downspouts will prevent the exiting water from eroding your lawn.
