Vancouver Trip
Having just returned from attending the Century 21 National Conference in Vancouver, I thought I should write about the trip.
It didn't particularly get off to an auspicious start since my friend and I, who were travelling together, both overslept even thought our alarms were set. But we made it to the Halifax airport in plenty of time and the rest of the trip was delightful; with the exception of clearing security both in Halifax and returning from Vancouver. Don't have metal grommets on the belt of your trousers and don't wear stainless steel orthotics in your sneakers. I was smart enough on the way home to put my orthitics in my suitcase, but I had a stuffed duck with batteries in my carry-on bag. Oh the consternation!
Vancouver is a fantastic city. It was great to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. Couldn't affort is even if I wanted to. We got to see Stanley Park, Grouse Mountain, Granville Island and Horseshoe Bay. Fortunately, we allowed ourselves an extra day but still did not have enough time to see everything.
The conference itself was excellent with good speakers, good information and good entertainment (Simon Cotter, the comedian, was hilarious at Saturday morning's session). One of the highlights was the dinner and dance on board ship around Vancouver Harbour. The view of Vancouver at night from the ship was awesome! Certainly glad that I went.
