PEI in WINTER

January is a month of new beginnings! It’s much more than just the good wishes at the start of a new year, January lays the foundation for the year ahead. Contrary to the belief that PEI closes down at this time of year, winter is a time that sees families at their busiest. Parents are at work, children at school, and in the off hours there are meetings to attend, kids’ activities to see to (hockey/ringette practices and games, music/dancing lessons, pool time, curling, just to name a few) and with a little luck mom & dad get some quality time too. We also enjoy other winter activities that do not involve organized commitments. A casual skating party, cross-country skiing (in the Souris area we have a lodge with kilometres of groomed trails including a lighted trail for night skiing) and of course the Confederation Trail goes from tip-to-tip on PEI giving snowmobilers exclusive access for the winter months. Those sledders are hoping to have snow all winter this year to take advantage of the trail...with little snow last year they didn’t get to do a lot of sledding. And so we use winter to re-energize and get fit. Then we’re ready to take on the rest of the year!
