Blog #3, BC Coastal Properties Backyard Adventures on Vancouver Island. Backyards come in all shapes, sizes, and demographics. We boarded West Jet, from Comox BC, and away we went from Vancouver Island to Winnipeg Manitoba to check out a Backyard in a different Province.
We flew into Winnipeg at the end of September and were welcome with hard little balls of snow pellets, which disappear as fast as they came down. Nevertheless, it did not cool down our excitement to see the city and its sights. Off in the cab, and down to the main drag of downtown on Portage Road, where we stayed at the Radisson Hotel. The hotel has history, probably one of the last, of the first, original on the outside, and the rooms beautiful Reno and very comfortable and the service were number one. We would definitely stay at the Radisson again. The hotel is half a block away from the Bell MTS Place, where the concerts are held and Paul McCartney was going to be performing. Wow, unfortunately, we didn’t have a chance to go and see him! To top it off the Jets had their home game the day before we arrived!! On that note, the Bell MTS place is also used as a walkway to connect you to business to help keep you safe and out of the cold, for Winnipeg nickname is Winterpeg!
We were very impressed with that walkway. You can walk and look out the window and view buildings that were built in 1896. All around that beautiful stone Church structures are modern apartment buildings and some business. Portage Ave is intertwined with new and old. Amazing it was and is today.
Sometimes, when you are removed from your comfortable surroundings into an area that is completely different, it truly is a pleasure to have that opportunity to check out different backyards!
The reason we did come to Winnipeg’s backyard, was to take part in the Century 21 Rebranding Conference. We are part of the Real Estate Industry and going to the Conference for Century 21 was an event of great anticipation!
What an informative conference. To begin with, the conference was held at the RBC Convention Centre 375 York Ave. From the Radisson Hotel, it was a lovely walk through the Bell MTS Place, about 10 minutes, and a great way to begin the day. We were on the second floor, and the conference space consisted of more than one room. Century 21 organizers, paid attention to details for this event. Plenty of space, for designated meeting rooms, exhibitor’s space/ breakfast/ lunch and of course washrooms were located in convenient locations.
Century 21 Mission is to Define & Deliver the Gold Standard in Canadian Real Estate. Throughout the 3 day convention, it was filled with important information concerning the Rebranding of Century21. With this information, we can see where Century 21 will “Define & Deliver the Gold Standard in Canadian Real Estate. This applies from province to province as we met a bunch of amazing C21ers team players that are excited to be in the Real Estate Industry. So, thank you Winnipeg Manitoba for giving us a glimpse of your backyard.
After the conference in Winnipeg, we headed back to our backyard on Vancouver Island, to a conference in Victoria, held at the beautiful Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa. Dean went to his session for Commercial Real Estate, and I had my session for an incredible, amazing, luxurious time of pampering at the Santé Spa at the resort!
Of course on our backyard adventures, there is always the food, honorable mention to the restaurant in the Radisson Hotel, where they had a very tasty Roast Beef Buffett. Across the street at the Best Western, we had finger-licking ribs combined with chatter and laughter, with Janet Scotland and Brian Dickson Owners/Broker of Century 21 Arbutus Realty in Campbell River. Great fun!
In Victoria at Jacks Place on Bear Mountain was a feast of Sushi, a menu with tons to choose from not just sushi, a place to come back and try out the rest of the menu. Take note, a very busy place so you might have to wait to have a seat if you come at the prime times.
Until next time, be healthy, happy, and adventurous stayed tuned for our next Backyard Adventures with Dean & Rita Casorzo, “ Campbell River is a Great Place to Call Home!”
