Assessment Appeals

Ontario is in the midst of a four-year property tax reassessment and for the 2009 taxation year it's possible your property could have been assessed too aggressively. I am advising taxpayers they have an option. The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC), is accepting Requests for Reconsiderations until March 31, 2010.

If you feel that you are over assessed, I recommend you file a Request for reconsideration immediately, the Mpac offices work well with the public, and the majority of time you will be able to negotiate a reduction your self, in the event that your property has been over assessed.  If you are unable to negotiate a settlement with the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation, then call me to discuss the details, and we can take the proper course of action at that point.  Many of you may be well aware that your assessment is lower than the market value, in which case there may be no cause for a reconsideration.

Once again, the Deadline for appeals is March 31st, 2010, or as well you can go to  their website and download the form for the Request for Reconsideration(RFR)or email me and I will be more than happy to email you a copy of it
