Pool makes splash after 25 years

Jared Franczak West Kelowna Real EstateResidents of West Kelowna and surrounding communities are invited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Johnson Bentley Memorial Aquatic Centre.

Celebrations will take place between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.

West Kelowna Mayor, Doug Findlater will be joined by former Johnson Bentley Pool Society president, Rod Barrett, Ron Gorman of Gorman Bros. Lumber and members of the Johnson and Bentley families to talk about the history of the facility.

The newly renovated foyer and patio will also be officially opened.

Activities include free swimming, dance and Zumba programs.

The aquatic centre was built in the memory of the Johnson and Bentley families.

Six members of the two families were murdered by David Shearing (now Ennis) while on a camping trip to Wells Gray Provincial Park in August, 1982.
