Job expansion announced

There were two big announcements in the City today.  The first was the announcement of the second big concert coming to The Hill" this summer.  This is the first time Metro has hosted two major concerts in one summer.  A really big undertaking but it will pump millions into the local economy in spin-offs.   Each big concert allows the City to put more money into infrastructure for the concert site making it better every summer.

The second big announcement was that Industrial Rail Services, owned by local businessman Dick Carpenter, was awarded a $100M contract to refurbish the aginf Via rail car fleet.  The company plans to add 150+ people to its payroll to do this work.  These will be skilled trades work and will be a great opportunity for graduates from here to get work or for some people to come home from the oil patch.  Maybe they will buy a few houses.

CREA had The Altus Group do a study of how much extra money is associated with the sale of a house.  In Atlantic Canada it is nearly $29,000 per sale.  this is for renovations, furniture and so on.  So every time a REALTOR(r) sells a home, it generates $29,000 more business in the area.  How is that for a nice piece of up selling?
