The boundaries of Alexandra Park are Dundas St. West, Spadina Ave., Queen St. West, and Bathurst St. Alexandra Park was originally built in 1968 and consists of mostly social housing right by Chinatown.
Plans to redevelop this area has finally been approved after several years. The idea for this redevelopment of Alexandra Park is the same as Regent Park. Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC) and Tridel have partnered up together in this huge project to revitalize Alexandra Park. The plans are to demolish and replace 333 units and refurbish 473 units. They are also planning on building 1,540 new units consisting of modern-contemporary condominiums and townhouses, 2 new parks and a basketball court. To begin this redevelopment of Alexandra Park, the SQ condo will be the first to launch this Fall.
This area is an excellent location for those who want to live in downtown for an affordable price and within walking distance to everything. Being right by Chinatown, Kensington Market, Queen St, Toronto Eaton Centre, University of Toronto, Queen's Park, and much more, this new revitalize neighbourhood will be integrated with the rest of downtown.
