Our “Meet A REALTOR®” series introduces the hard-working people of the Century 21 Bachman & Associates, and provides a personal look at each of us as residents of our community. For this installment, we spoke with Amy Quinton about what it means to live and work as a REALTOR® in Winnipeg & the surrounding area.
1)How long have you lived in Winnipeg?
I was born and raised in Winnipeg, in St. Vital to be specific.I went away to school at the University of Victoria and decided to move home to the Peg.
2)Why did you choose to settle here?
The reason I moved back to Winnipeg after leaving was first and foremost for the people.Winnipeg is full of incredible communities and after living in a place that was very tourism driven and somewhat nomadic in nature I yearned for the familiarity and sense of community that Winnipeg offers.
3)What is your favorite thing about living in Winnipeg?
Well other than the wonderful “Friendly Manitobans”, we have some of the greatest lakes and beaches in the world.During the summers whenever possible I head out to the family cottage at Victoria Beach.
4)What makes Manitoba different than any other province to live?
The people.It may sound sappy, but the people in this province are warm, open, and willing to help others like no where I’ve ever experienced.
5)Tell us a few of your favorite activities to do or places to visit in the area?
In addition to heading up to the beach, some of my favourite places in the city are the Leo Mol Garden in Assiniboine Park, the BDI, and to be completely honest… Grandma’s house
6)Tell us one thing you love about working in the real estate industry and why?
With the risk of sounding repetitive, it was the people that got me into the real estate industry and the people that keep me in it.Making lasting relationships with my clients is something that is a big part of what I do.Buying or selling a home is an emotional process and I appreciate and am sensitive to that.
7)Describe your favorite sale in real estate:
My favourite sale would have to be the first one I ever handled completely on my own.It was an experience of self fulfillment but also it was an absolute honour to help a very special couple find the house of their dreams.I was able to skillfully negotiate a great price for them and was able to handle some loose ends that occurred after the offer was accepted.
8)How has technology helped you as a REALTOR®?
The greatest advantage of the technology today has to be the ease of communication.Between clients, other agents, and related industry contacts, it is never been easier to be in touch, and staying connected is an integral part of what I do as a REALTOR®.
9)Describe one quality about yourself, which has helped you develop the necessary skills to be a successful REALTOR® with Century 21 Bachman & Associates?
I care.It is a simple quality but one that I think really sets me apart.I do not treat the facilitation of a purchase or sale as purely a business transaction.There are real people involved with fears and anxieties, expectations and excitement.When I make a commitment I follow it through.I treat my clients the way I would want to be treated in the same situation, with respect and patience while paying careful attention to all the details.
10)Why Century 21 Bachman & Associates?
