Moose, seals and other things
Crossing on the Englishtown Ferry
In Cape Breton we have different kinds of speed bumps and this week it was a 700lb. yup 700 lb. Harbour Seal. My neighbour was driving home after crossing the Englishtown Ferry in a snow squall on the skinny penninsula that divides St. Ann's Bay from St. Ann's Harbour. As the snow swirled around causing white out conditions he hit somthing that stopped his car, actually his car was tipped to one side. Having no idea what it was that he had hit he climbed out of the car to see that he was on top of a huge seal. Unbeliveably this storey is not all bad. Although my neighbour sustained over $6,000.00 of damage to his car ( no injuries) to him, the seal after being weighed and tagged by the Dept. Of Fisheries & Oceans swam away!!
