Okanagan Shuswap Real Estate Sales are Down ...or are they?

As you can see by our statistics the Okanagan Shuswap home sales have dropped substantially in January of 2015 compared to January 2014. At first look a person might assume that, "This must be the oil prices". However, one month does not make a market. What could be another explanation? In January 2015, some reports say, we had the biggest snowfall in the Okanagan Shuswap's history. Our Vernon office was shut down for 2 days. In fact there was virtually no one looking at houses for that week. People were too busy digging themselves out and trying to get back to life and work. One year ago the weather in the Okanagan Shuswap in January was excellent for a January. The high of the month was January 12th and it reached 12 degrees. There was 5 CM of snow on the 31 of January. The rest of the month hovered between +5 and -5 degrees. Do you think that our record snowfall this year might change our stats a bit?  In fact we are comparing sales of 3 weeks this year against a full 4 weeks last year. If this is true the statistics of February this year should easily surpass last February. Unless of course we get another 2 feet of snow. With the recent drop in interest rates it is an even better time to buy. Call us for a free home evaluation and our custom Home Search.
