Spring cleaning and Barrie Landfill

Its that time of year again we start thinking about our Spring Cleaning. For me, my Spring cleaning usually entails a couple trips to the local landfill.

The Barrie Landfill, located at 272 Ferndale Drive North, is open to Barrie residents only.

Please be prepared to show photo Identification upon entering the Landfill Site. Entry will be denied without photo I.D.

Ensure that you plan your visit accordingly, there is nothing worse then spending all day on a Sunday loading up all your waste then driving out to the landfill only to find it closed.

The City of Barrie's Landfill operates Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00  a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The laneway to the landfill site can accommodate up to one hour's worth of traffic. Due to high volume of traffic on Tuesdays and Saturdays, it is recommended that you arrive at the landfill site prior to 3:00 p.m. to ensure entry.

The landfill site is closed to the public every Sunday, Monday and holidays including: New Year's Day (January 1) ; Good Friday (March 29); Canada Day (July 1) ; Christmas Day (December 25) ; Boxing Day (December 26) ; Christmas Eve at noon (December 24) ; New Year's Eve at noon (December 31)
