So much has happened since the last Rider game in 2015. Pessimism has turned to optimism; and not even guarded optimism but outright 'bring on the Cup'!
When Chris Jones was signed who would have thought that his whole coaching staff, but one, would follow him to Riderville. It definitely speaks volumes for him as a coach and as a human being. However a few questions arise:
Does he have too much on his plate, vice president of football operations and general manager and head coach and defensive coordinator, ( one assumes that is what it took for him to leave the Grey Cup winning Edmonton Eskimos for the Riders.)
Should he have gotten rid of 19 players so quickly? ( Most were on the defensive side of the ball and he is regarded by some as a "defensive genius" so perhaps warranted)
How will Double D respond to the coaching change and will his ruptured Achilles tendon properly heal?
Will the coaching staff be happy with Smith as number one backup?
Will this massive change create an upswing in game excitement and a playoff spot?
Every year I look forward to training camp and this year the anticipation will definitely be at a higher level!
