Cambrian Heights is a well-established, quaint neighborhood in the northwest quadrant of Calgary. The population of the community is approximately 2,000, with ~30% of residents between the ages of 25 and 44 (City of Calgary, 2011). The bulk of the homes in Cambrian Heights are primarily single detached, with a smaller subset of semi detached and apartments.
For the kids, Cambrian Heights Elementary School (K-6), Highwood Elementary (K-1), Rosemont Elementary (K-6), Collingwood Elementary (K-4), North Haven Elementary (K-6), Bethel Christian Academy (ECS-12) and Edelweiss Preparatory School are nearby (Calgary School Board, 2012). Colonel Irvine Junior High (7-9) and James Fowler High School (10-12) are also within a short drive of the community (ibid).
For those who love to shop, Cambrian Heights is located 15 minutes from both the downtown core and the popular Market Mall.
Cambrian Heights borders one of the largest residential parks in Canada - Nose Hill Park. The park itself is surrounded by upwards of ten Calgary communities in the city’s northwest quadrant, and covers 11 square kilometers (City of Calgary, 2012). Throughout the park there are several hiking trails and off-leash areas for you and your pet to enjoy. On the smaller side, Cambrian Heights Park and Queens Park are also within walking distance of the community.
For those commuting to the downtown core, the LRT is just a short distance away. Cambrian Heights is between University Station and Banff Trail Station, both of which are approximately a 30-minute commute to downtown.
