Lake Chaparral, photo courtesy of CalgaryArea.comEstablished in 1995, Lake Chaparral is a gorgeous community located at 22X and McLeod Trail - more broadly the Southeast quadrant of Calgary. The community itself has increased 25% in size from 2007, roughly from ~9,000 to ~11,000 residents (City of Calgary, 2012). Chaparral is a diverse community with homes ranging from condo or townhome to single family detached houses and elite custom waterfront homes.

Chaparral is a fairly young community with approximately ~5,900 residents under the age of 44, and within that ~2,400 between the ages of 5 and 14 (ibid). With 14 schools ranging from elementary to senior high in close proximity, finding the perfect schools for your children will not a problem!

If you own real estate in the area, you can register with the Chaparral Community Association and you will be able to enjoy seasonal outdoor activities. In the summer/spring you will enjoy the tennis courts, waterfront access and the ability to swim and kayak in Chaparral’s 32-acre prestigious manmade lake (Chaparral Community Association, 2012). In the winter you will be able to enjoy ice-skating, ice fishing and a game of pick up hockey most evenings. For the outdoor lovers, Fish Creek Park is a short drive down 194 Ave SE. Bragg Creek and Kananaskis are a short 25-minute drive down 22X.

Chaparral’s is located in ten-minutes from Shawnessy’s shopping amenities, restaurants and the popular public library.

For the commuters, there are several LRT stations in close to Chaparral. Shawnessy and Bridlewood stations are within a ten-minute drive of the community and boast a short 35-minute ride to Calgary’s downtown core.
