4th Annual Used Book Sale
October 19-21, 2012
Stittsville District Lion's Club, 1339 Stittsville Main Street

We need your donations of books for our 4th Annual used book sale. We are looking for post-1990 novels, cookbooks, gardening books, children’s books, self-help books, fiction, non-fiction, etc.

Please no manuals, periodicals, magazines, encyclopedias, condensed books or text books.

Volunteers will be needed to make this event a success.






The 9 Run Run Event will be taking place in Stittsville this Saturday, October 20th.  I want to remind you that as part of this event there will be temporary road closures and detours occurring for a short time during the race. 

Or maybe you are more the Running type.


9 Run Run is Ottawa’s Emergency Services’ Run in support of Do It For Daron (D.I.F.D.) and The Royal's Youth Mental Health Awareness Study & Early Intervention Research Project.  Thanks to the overwhelming support of race participants and the community, the 2011, 9 RUN RUN raised $25,911.11.

8:50-9:30am Stittsville Main Street CLOSED

7 am – 1 pm Abbott Street East CLOSED

8:50 – 9:30 am Abbott Street West CLOSED

9:30am – 12:30 pm Trans Canada Trail CLOSED between West Ridge and Stittsville Main during inbound races


I encourage everyone to come out and cheer on the participants. The first race is the 10 km that starts at 9 am followed by the half marathon at 9:15 am. The 3km Family Fun Run starts at 10 am. All of the races commence and end in front of Sacred Heart Catholic High School.


Fall Give Away weekend


The Fall Give Away Weekend will take place on Saturday, October 20


th and Sunday, October 21st


, 2012. Don't put your unwanted stuff in the garbage. Set them out at the curb on Give Away Weekend. Tour your neighbourhood, community and city to find hidden treasures.




Giveaway items could include:


Books, CDs and DVDs


Old furniture and small appliances


Construction materials - including drywall and hardware such as nails, bolts and screws


Kitchen gadgets, dishes, cutlery, pots and pans


Unwanted gifts


Please consider safety when deciding which items to set out to the curb. The Consumer Product Safety Bureau of Health Canada advises that used children's items such as baby walkers, yo-yo balls, cribs, car seats, strollers, playpens, bath seats, mattresses, blinds, toys and other child-related items should not be placed at the curb for Giveaway Weekend.

Place items at the curb


Place stickers or signs on items with the word "FREE"


Ensure any items that you want to keep are away from your giveaway treasures or tucked away safely in your garage


At the end of the day, bring any uncollected items back to your home
