Adults, not unlike children, are attracted to shiny things. Whether it is the look of a brand new vehicle, the sparkle of a diamond, the reflection of light from a mirrored disco ball or tinsel on your Christmas tree, shiny things are all around us. Inevitably humans are attracted to shiny objects.
Have you ever thought that you, yourself, have a shine? In 1991, R.E.M. had a hit single with a song called "Shiny Happy People" which hit #10 on the Billboards Hot 100. Think about those around you, I bet you are most likely to choose to interact with the people in your life who are "Shiny".
I think it is safe to say that people are attracted to "Shiny People". We love to hang out with the happy person at the party, you know the one, they are the with a crowd of people surrounding them, they are laughing and having a good time. They are also the ones who turn a negative situation into a learning experience, they learn and grow from it rather than sit in a corner and complain about it.
About 10 years ago now, I was in a customer service seminar. It was there I learned the phrase "never lose your shine". This message didnt really hit home until I started my own business. The best way to shine in business is to do something you truly love to do.
When faced with a challenge or disappointment in business, we must remember to put on our big girl panties and move forward. In Winnipeg there are almost 1500 Realtors, and as a customer you have many choices. Knowledge and experience will only get you so far in business, people want to do business with people they like and respect. I make it my mission to bring my experience, knowledge, energy and enthusiasm to every transaction for every client.
When you dwell on the past, wishing things could be different, you may not see what lies ahead. For every bump in the road there is an incredible journey yet to come, but you must move forward, embrace the changes along the way and believe that the best is still to come.
Let every person you meet on your life journey see your shine!
