In Regina and area, residential home sales in May surpassed the 400 mark for the first time since July 2009. May’s average price of $296,838 set a new high for any month in the history of the Association of Regina REALTORS® Inc. MLS® System and was up 18% from May 2010. As reported by the Leader Post, the latest data released by Statistics Canada indicates that investment in non-residential construction is way up in Regina and generally up in Saskatchewan. Regina was up by 30.9 per cent and 6 per cent across Saskatchewan in the first quarter of this year compared to the first three months of last year.

In Regina, there were 569 single-detached housing starts last year, down 42% from 979 in 2008. There were 361 multiple-unit starts which is slightly lower than the 396 recorded in 2008.
