Professional Background

I am a native Albertan, who has lived and loved this area all my life, consequently my contacts and area knowledge are extensive.  Many of my clients think I know everyone:) which of course is an exaggeration.  I think what they mean is that I always know where to locate something, someone or find the resources they are looking for.

Naturally, I obtained my education in Alberta schools.  In later years I went on to Mount Royal College for a Diploma in Applied Social Sciences, completed a Degree in Social Work at the University of Calgary, and took several interest courses at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.  I worked for Alberta Social Services as a Child Welfare Worker from 1984 until 1991.  I am still involved with the children of the province.

In 1991 I obtained my Real Estate license initially starting as a traditional 'Sellers' agent with a focus on listings.  In 2003 I changed my practice to a 'Buyer's Agent' focus and started attending Immigration information shows in the United Kingdom several times per year giving out factual information on Alberta real estate practises and lifestyle information on the local Calgary, Cochrane, Airdrie and Okotoks areas.

Personal Background

I own and operate a 160 acre hay farm situated between Calgary and Cochrane.  Currently we grow timothy hay for the export market.  We are in the process of having this land redesignated so we can develop an 18 hole golf course, 20 room boutique country inn and 450 seat banquet hall www.ChinookRidge.ca.  My spouse, Ray, and I are foster parents to 4 children.  Over the years we have had approximately 150 children stay with us for varying lengths of time.  My own 2 sons are now adults and on their own, I have one grandson.  They all live close by.

Many of my clients from the UK stay with us at the farm or in temporary short term furnished accommodations we own while they tour the area, become familiar with communities and/or house shop.  This allows for intensive property searches and discussions late into the evening.  Perfect for home search trips where we only have a short period of time to cover a lot of ground and share information.  Our off-farm furnished client accommodations are in Cochrane.  These can be viewed at www.YourMoveToAlberta.com under the Blog titled 'Temporary Accommodations' I love the work I do and the clients I work with, often they become part of our extended family.

Community Involvement

My real estate practice and home life keep me pretty occupied but I do host several large 'client appreciation' events annually.  Generally these are around Valentine's Day, Stampede Week, Back to School week (in August), Thanksgiving day and Guy Falkes day.  I also have a booth and cook-pot at the annual Cochrane Christmas Light-up event.  I am a volunteer participant on the Rockyview County Family & Community Support Services Board of Directors, an active member of the Cochrane Chamber of Commerce and both the local Alberta and Cowboy Trail Tourism Associations.

Personal Interests
