Looking for something different to do this weekend? Try the Alberta Aviation museum, perhaps you didn't even know we have it here in town! The museum is located at 11410 Kingsway Avenue
The Alberta Aviation Museum is celebrating Canada Day with free flights for children eight to 16. The Edmonton chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association will provide the half-hour flights.
Tom Hinderks, the museum executive director, said it’s “a whole new beautiful world for them.”
Registration is limited and on a first-come first-served basis. Canada Day celebrations at the museum start June 28 and carry on through the weekend.
Arriving on Friday is the Vintage Wings of Canada’s Boeing Stearman bi-plane trainer that was used in Alberta during the Second World War.
On Friday at 7 p.m., Canadian astronaut Maj. Jeremy Hansen will give a presentation. Canada Day events are included in the price of admission. Friday evening’s events are free.
Even if you don't get on a plane, it's a worthwhile few hours in a completely different environment.
