“New York Abstract Expressionism”
Friday, June 3, 2011, 6:30 p.m.
Come join us to celebrate our first ever lecture series with guest speaker Nancy Spector, Associate Curator of Education at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo. Nancy will speak on Abstract Expressionism and mid-twentieth century American artists such as Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Mark Rothko, Robert Motherwell, and their colleagues who developed a new, distinctly American style of painting. The Albright-Knox Gallery has an outstanding collection of Modern and Contemporary Art and is especially known for its major works by these artists.
The lecture will be held at the Niagara Pumphouse Visual Art Centre, 247 Ricardo Street, Friday, June 3 at 6:30 p.m. The series will continue in the Fall, when we look forward to presenting a lecture on Marc Chagall followed by a trip to the AGO in Toronto to see their new exhibit on Chagall and the Russian avant-garde.
Tickets for this event are $25.00 per person and include a reception with wines by Between the Lines and savoury refreshments. To purchase your tickets, call the Pumphouse at 905-468-5455 Monday to Friday 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., or Saturday and Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased at the door, but seating is limited.
