Vancouver’s pools, rinks and fitness centres open to universal access

Membership at a community association is no longer required to use the city’s pools, rinks and fitness centres – well, almost all of those facilities.

Six of the 22 community centre associations are not accepting the OneCard, which officially launched Monday and can be loaded with a 10-visit pass, a Flexipass or a leisure access pass for those who qualify for a subsidy.

Their hesitation stems from fears they will lose membership revenue, and therefore programs, and uncertainty how the discounts are funded.
