Many people in real estate have ways of manipulating the data to make them sound that they are the Number 1 in a specific area, type etc.
In 2009 Century 21 Colonial Realty sold the most real estate on PEI through the MLS system not only in units sold but in value of real estate.
Here is a link to the stats provided by the PEI Real Estate Association that shows what all the companies did for the ...

Recently the governing party of PEI introduced an amendment to the property assessment act in the recent session of the legislature. The present government came into power with an election promise of a “freeze” on property tax assessment…basically meaning that whatever your residential assessment was…it stayed the same, although the mil rate (the multiplier amount to determine ...

What a mild November! We have enjoyed lots of sun and double digit temperatures for the better part of the month. So far the weather in Charlottetown is very similar to what I have experienced in Vancouver, although I am sure that will change soon enough...
As we enter the cooler months the PEI real estate market is faring well. Sales and prices are up from 2008 and the inventory of homes ...

For September sales are up MOM(month over month), inventory is down and prices are sitting at highs not seen in the last 4 years. Last month’s steep dip in sales appears to be an anomaly rather than a sign of things to come.
Sales increased 18% MOM. Although There was a strong rebound from last month, sales for September are lower than the last few years and for a strong real estate market ...

Like most people I remember hide and seek as a kid to be a great fun thing to do outside and to put off homework for as long as I could. As a parent now with young children...it still is...it allows me to play with the kids before I have to do my work around the house.
I always liked hiding more than seeking because you wanted to outsmart the person who was seeking but you knew eventually you were ...

With summer winding up the PEI real estate market took a bit of a breather this month. While listings flat lined and prices continued to be strong, sales dipped. They came in at 135 sales which is considerably lower than the last 3 years. Prices remain strong and are at their highest level for August in the last 4 years. Let's see if the typically strong fall market breathes some life back into the ...

The end of August is always a different time of year ! One week you are sweltering in the heat, enjoying the Gold Cup and Saucer Parade in Downtown Charlottetown for Old Home Week and then after it is all done...you are thinking about long sleeve shirts, jeans, backpacks and the upcoming fall.
Here on PEI most people always say "Well after Old Home Week..summer's over !" It is not the mystical power ...

Recently a colleague of mine sent me an email with a blog post...
Hey Joel;
Thought I’d pass this along – not sure if you follow Seth Godin or not… he’s a big Marketing guru out of the US… lots of good books.
Anyway this was always a pet peeve of mine while I was in the business… people using the stats to be #1 in a particular community, etc… to me only ...

Finally the summer weather is starting to heat up and the real estate market is still going strong. Listings seem to have plateaued at a lower level than the previous 4 years while sales continue to move upward. If this trend continues there will be further upward pressure on prices. Prices have posted their highest number in July for the last 4 years.
Another positive for PEI is that a report released ...
