There are some things about living in a small town that just cannot be replaced elsewhere. One highlight of the year in my hometown of Carp is the Car Bingos. I remember telling a friend about the Car Bingo and she said "really, what kind of car can you win?"! Her comment still makes me smile. You win a small amount of cash while playing from the comforts of your car! That's right. We assemble at the Carp Fair Grounds and sit in our vehicles to play the 10 rounds of BINGO. If you have a bingo on your card you honk your horn to alert the officials. It is a fun evening for all ages and helps to raise funds for the annual Carp Fair, 78 sleeps 'til the next fair! http://carpfair.ca/index.htm
It is really not just about the Bingo game. There are the local friends and neighbours to meet and of course the homemade pies to enjoy. It is one of those summer traditions that we all look forward to. The bingos are held every Wednesday night in July, starting at 8 pm. The locals know to arrive early for a good parking spot.
Hope to see you there - just save me a piece of butterscotch pie!
