The Barrie Colts who finished the regular 2013 season in 2nd place in the Eastern Conference and 5th in the OHL with 92 points overall, start their playoff run on Thursday March 21, 2013 at the Barrie Molson Center.
Facing off against the Colts will be the Kingston Frontenacs. Finishing 7th in the Eastern Conference, 17th overall with 60 points (which by the way would not have been good enough to make the playoffs in the Western Conference).
Barrie edged the Frontenacs in the 4 game played this season 3 games to 1, outscoring them 14 - 9 in the process.
Barrie comes into the series on a bit of a roll, having lost just once in the month of March. With the strength of Mark Scheifele at centre (39G 40A 79PTS in 45 games) and Zack Hall (24G 57A 81PTS in 63 games) the Colts are looking to go far in the playoffs. Not to be missed is the overaged goaltendder Mathias Niederberger with 35 wins in 56 games this year, a goals against average of 2.34 and a 0.933 save percentage. This could be a very promising post season for the Colts and the fans alike.
Get out to the BMC to cheer on the Colts!
