NAR 2009, held in beautiful San Diego, was once again a mind expanding series of seminars over 3 1/2 days. As with last years conference in Orlando, I came away educated, stimulated and invigorated, and probably a couple or other "ateds" I can't think of right now!

Unfortunately it looks like we're going to have winter again this year. You would think we could skip one every now and then. I maintain it will be difficult to convince a Maritimer that Global warming is a bad thing!!!

CMHC recently released their numbers for August and it is a reason to smile. Their seasonally adjusted rate for new housing starts was up 12.1% to 150,400. Not as good as 2008, but better than they had originally forcasted so some signs of recovery in the air.

Summer is here full swing and the festivals are thick on the ground. This past weekend saw a big Acadian festival in Dieppe which included the International Kyte Festival. Kytes were here from all over the world doing stunts, tricks and "battles" with one another.

Once again the boys and girls with all the hot cars brought the sunshine with them to Metro Moncton. The 2009 Atlantic Nationals are here to thrill auto buffs in the area. The rain held off long enough for a great party in downtown Moncton to celebrate Canada Day. There were really good crowds all afternoon and part of Main Street, in front of City Hall, was blocked off to allow for a concert stage. Several bands kept the crowds entertained until 9:30 when everyone went down to the water front for a very impressive fireworks display. (I really love fireworks)

City of Moncton building permits, year to date have hit $88.5 million according to an article in the Times Transcript by Brent Mazerolle. This is a two hundred and fifty percent increase over this time last year. I attended a meeting at the Capital Theatre today put on by the ICSC. It was the first such meeting ever held in Atlantic Canada. Kudos to Ben Champeoux of the City of Moncton for helping to make this happen. The group was made up of local politicians, City staff, local developers, property managers and REALTORS (r). REALTORS(r) from the Greater Moncton Real Estate Board spent the day paddling their hearts out in the Annual Dragon Boat races on Jones Lake. They managed to get to the final 9 boats and finished eighth overall. Here are a few pictures from the day.
