Director Michael Bay has put his Santa Barbara mansion on the market $6.8 million. The 5,400 square feet house was built in 1993 and designed by an architect Jan Hochhauser. The house features four bedrooms and four bathrooms, a guest house and an open layout that allows the beautiful surrounding landscape views into the interior design. Bay’s Santa Barbara mansion has a garage with a three vehicle storing capacity, a stunning infinity pool and an outdoor lounge area arranged around a fire pit.
The mansion is full of natural lighting and space due to the very high ceilings and glass walls. The living room looks a bit like a mall with its dome-like ceiling but the rest of the rooms feature average ceilings. Huge windows and glass walls are very popular in modern architecture so the residents get to enjoy the landscape around the house.
The mansion is decorated in minimalist style with the built-in lighting, gray-white color scheme and minimum decorations and accessories. The kitchen opens a great view on the infinity pool that sits on the green lawn surrounded by trees and greenery. The bedroom has an open air balcony with loungers allowing to enjoy the panoramic views.
Michael Bay has also expressed his interest in interior decorating to New York Times describing his tastes as:
“New modern is Asian and rock and a sense of nature. It’s mixing up different woods and textures, and, to break up the monolithic feeling of the house, it’s using big dark Japanese pieces.”
Bay has other property so this mansion is up for sale. It gives the residents a sense of privacy featuring the gated entrance and the hedges.
