Once again this year, the CENTURY 21 Untied team did our part to help those less fortunate in our community. For the last 23 years, our brokerage has reached out to help those supported through the Salvation Army in Peterborough and the surrounding areas over the Christmas holidays. We have continued to extend a hand and ask others in our community to participate and give back by donating an new unwrapped toy/book/gift to someone in need for Christmas!
Over the last 3 months, sales representatives and administration staff at CENTURY 21 United Realty Inc. in Peterborough, have put our heads together and discovered new and exciting ways to raise money within our office. We had raffles and offerred prizes, held pot lucks, cook-offs, bake sales and coffee mornings. Several people from within our office donated their time and money to help these families in need and ensure they would have something to look forward to Christmas morning.
We contacted local business in and around Peterborough requesting corporate donations on behalf of these families supported through the Salvation Army. This has proven successful over the past 23 years and represented a large portion of the total amount raised with the help of the CENTURY 21 United team this year.
In total, our brokerage successfully raised $9762.00 this year for the families in need of help in our community over this holiday season. Of this total, approximately $4000 came from the corporate donations; our success for these children would not have been possible without their support!
This year, along with requests for corporate dollar donations, we put together an online auction, which also would not have been possible without the support of local business owners in and around Peterborough. We had over 56 items/gift certificates/services available that were donated to be auctioned off over the course of a three week period. The auction was a ton of fun because we had a lot of great items availble, and even more support from the two local newspapers, (Peterbrorough This Week, and the Peterborough Examiner) and CKPT radio stations Country 105 and Energy 99.7.
This year the online auction brought in just under $4300 to buy christmas gifts for families in need.
We shopped for the toys/gifts with the money we were able to raise for the Salvation Army Toy Drive on Thursday, December 10th, 2009, took them all back to our office and filled the lobby, halls , stairs and more with the purchases. This past Saturday a combination of over 30 sales representatives, administration staff, family and friends bagged all of the toys back up, and delivered them to our new and improved mall Landsdowne Place for the miracle broadcast (December 12th, 2009).
Here is a photo of Broker/Owner Carl Oake and myself (Crystal Edwards) and some of the hundreds of toys at our office Friday, December 11th, 2009.
We had so much fun raising this money for the Christmas Toy Drive in Peterborough this year. We look forward to coming up with new ideas, and with a bright 2010 ahead, hope to have more success and help more families next year! Thank you for all of your help and support!
