With the school year just around the corner, are you worried about getting your child's mind back in high gear for school after a long summer holiday? Has your child been enjoying the summer a little too much? If so, one fun great way to rectify your situation is to get your child's heart pumping from physical activity, such as dance, which helps to increase energy and concentration, as well as improve coordination, posture and breathing, all of which could ultimately help to improve academic performance.
Main Street Dance is holding two summer dance day camp sessions for young children this month. The first is a Ballet Dance Camp, where students will have daily dance classes and learn a Cinderella ballet. They will also learn about mime, dramatic interpretation, music, art, dance history, anatomy and nutrition. The first session will run from August 20th to 24th, and the second from August 27th to 31st. The camp will take place at a dance studio located at 2800 John Street, Unit 6, just west of Woodbine Avenue. For children 3 to 4 years of age, the camp will take place from 9am to 11:30am, and for children 5 to 6 years of age, from 12:30pm to 3pm. The cost is $125 per week.
