Team 539

It's kind of funny how some people really don't pay attention to something until it affects their life in some way shape or form.  Taking part in a cross-country marithon falls into that category for me.  I've ran a few kilometers in my time, but I have never ran to prepare for a race until the opportunity to participate in the Yukon Trail Marithon presented itself earlier this year.  The marithon takes place tomorrow winding it's way through the streets and hills surrounding the beautiful city of Whitehorse.  My brother, sister, sister-in-law and I are entered in the relay division, each person responsible for at least 1 of 4 legs of the marithon.  Each leg is about 10 kilometers.  Bryan is doing all 4, I'm considering it but haven't given in to the dark side just yet.  I will most likely do the final two legs and then jump into the freezing water of the Yukon River which apparently is a local tradition.  If you scroll down the list of participants you will find Team 539, the Crazy Craven's.  The name is actually quite appropriate if you were to listen to some of the conversations around our dinner tables.  Our goal is to simply finish the marithon.  We have no intention of racing anyone or anything unless the anything is a grizzly bear which are quite common in these parts.  If I run into a bear the race will be on let me tell you.  I'm looking forward to the run, hopefully grizzley won't be part of my conversation tomorrow.
