Welcome

It is truly an honour to be able to work with you on finding the perfect new home for you and your family.

My passion for people and the desire to work with familes finding them a new home or new community is one of the key reasons I became a Real Estate Associate with Century 21 Advantage.  For many years my career path has been one where I have helped families.  My free spirit and passion for helping others has been my strength in the past and a key ingredient of who I am today.

I know first hand the challenges of moving with children, and that a house is not just a house but a home.  This is one of the qualities that is embodied at Century 21 Advantage, and a character trait of my family that I follow in real estate.  I am proud to work alongside my husband, Patrick Galesloot.

Community Involvement

Near and dear to my heart is the work I have done within our schools here in Penhold. I think this saying sums it up regarding the children in our lives "each & everyone of you is "priceless" because there is only 1 of you". Children are my passion and through them and building great families, we create amazing communities to call home.

Currently I sit on the Penhold School Aged Care Committee that provides before and after school care for school aged children in our community and will soon be expanded to half day care for children attending Kindergarten at the Jessie Duncan Elementary School.

I also can generally be found at Community Breakfasts, Information Fair evenings and whatever else may be going on around town.

Personal Background

I am the proud mother of three awesome kids. Two boys and a girl make-up my blessings. Personally, they are the greatest gifts in life to date for me. Every day they make me laugh and teach me something new.

Our household is very busy as I am also an animal lover. Anything fluffy or floats has a place in our home - much to Patrick's dismay sometimes although after 21 years he is becoming accustomed to it and because apples do not generally fall far from the tree all 3 of our children are animal lovers too. Currently 1 dog, 5 cats, & 3 beta fish reside with us.

I am a nature lover, gardener at heart, and the best times are always when you are on or near a mountain. A great gift was given to me and it said "housework makes you ugly - gardening makes you beautiful" isn't that a great saying. The kids are full of stories of how I forgot to feed them because I was creating a rock garden, playing in the dirt and so on - what is the big deal - it is only 1 meal & Patrick always gradually comes home.

Professional Background

I have a lengthy background of community work behind me. Beginning in 1989 to 2000, I worked within the Provincial Government in a variety of human nature areas, Mental Health, Children's Advocate Office, Personnel, & Child Welfare. Upon learning that our 3rd child was on the way we chose to have me come home and be a stay at home mom. The time of my life and I would not trade that time at all.

After our youngest was a few years old I got the perfect part-time mommy job being an Executive Assistant for 10 hours a week with the Normandeau Natural & Historical Society here in Red Deer. The general public will know this area as the Red Deer & District Museum and the Kerry Wood Nature Centre. One great experience was that I got to help out with an immature Bald Eagle. Wow amazing unto itself in that the bird who the others referred to as being young, his wingspan was already larger than me in height. A true wonderment to behold. As time moves on before us, things change and gradually my position with the Normandeau Society ended.

What was next for De - my new adventure would take me to the Century 21 Advantage Office to help out there for a little bit and my little bit turned out to be 1 ½ years. It was great working in the assistant conveyancing position alongside Glenna, but I needed to stretch my wings and do something different, the people thing was drawing at me again, those in need, the less fortunate, and so on.

Literally out of nowhere, I learned that the Neighbourhood Place Co-ordinator position was open. Of interest, of course, the people thing was right at my feet. I applied and was the successful candidate. This position was great for me as it allowed me to grow, be independent, creative, and caring in many different people field aspects. Working within your own community is amazing to see what such a diverse area has to offer, the people you share a town with and for me personally the truly great people that are your neighbours and of course the children. This position took me all over town and into the schools. What a rich opportunity to have.

All of my experiences have brought many a variety of people into my world with their own blessings and teachings to learn from. I feel very blessed to have walked the paths I have and all that I have learned along the way.

To support the above, I have several years of schooling and experience to my perusal. Most recently having attended the newly created Real Estate Associates Program that is offered all over the Province and more locally here at the Red Deer College. This was a perfect fit for me as my former schooling was completed at Red Deer College so I felt what better place to pursue a change in career paths.

Former Laebon Show Home in Penhold!! This fine family home is located a short walk to Jesse Duncan Elementary school and the playgrounds a great location for young families looking for an affordable family home. Thousands of dollars less than in Red Deer, you can get the house you want with the garage compared to a smaller home with no garage in Red Deer. Penhold is a short 13 km drive south of south pointe common shopping centre and is a growing community with a state of the art multiplex arena scheduled to open in July 2010. This home has 3 bedrooms with room for a fourth (framed) and a basement bath is also roughed in. The garage is set up with 220 wiring and the lot still has room for RV parking. Back yard has a good sized deck with a firepit to enjoy on those warm summer nights. Kitchen is open with plenty of cupboards and the vaulted ceiling adds to the ambience. Something this home has that similar in Red Deer do not is the 3 piece ensuite. Buyer to verify measurements.
