The RBC Skate in the Square is open for business in the Towne Square in downtown Oakville.
The rink is open to skaters daily, from 8 a.m.-10 p.m., through to Feb. 28, 2015.
In its second year in Towne Square, the RBC Skate in the Square is a place to learn to skate or take a date.
“We are especially excited about the public’s positive response to the rink last year,” said Sharlene Plewman, executive director Downtown Oakville BIA.
“The businesses of Downtown Oakville are really looking forward to having the synthetic skating rink back this year for customers and visitors to enjoy,” she said.
The synthetic skating surface means that the rink is ready for action in all types of weather. The synthetic surface is made of polymer material and is designed for using normal metal-bladed ice skates, according to Plewman.
“This season you have no excuse not to get outside and enjoy our beautiful winter,” she said.
When lacing up their skates or taking a break to warm up, residents can do it in the comfort of the Khachi designed warming station.
On Saturday, residents are invited to join the businesses and merchants of Downtown Oakville, along with the RBC Skate in the Square sponsors, in celebrating the grand opening of the rink.
At the event, there will be a winter wonderland for shoppers to enjoy including: horse-drawn carriage rides, pictures with Santa, the Towne Square Christmas tree, entertainment and treats.
The RBC Skate in the Square is sponsored by the businesses and merchants of Downtown Oakville, RBC, Khachi Design Group, Laqfoil, Biddington, Rosehaven Homes, The Invidiata Team, Oakville Hydro and Oak-land Ford.
