On September 8, 2011, a number of fearless participants will dress as Superheroes and safely rappelled down 30-storeys of the Sun Life Tower at the Easter Seals Drop Zone fundraising event. Last year the event raised over $208,000 that will help provide mobility equipment, such as power wheelchairs, and help send kids to Easter Seals Camp Horizon in Bragg Creek. Each year I volunteer to do the coordination on the roof top of the Sun Life Tower, and Crux and the RAT team providing excellent safety and expertise at the event. This all adds up to many volunteer hours of commitment greatly appreciated by Easter Seals and the families they serve.
For more than eighty years, Easter Seals, a registered charity, has been dedicated to serving Canadians with disabilities, striving to ensure that no one is left behind.More than 100,000 Canadians and their families annually access programs and services provided by Easter Seals organizations across Canada. In addition to camp and active living, Easter Seal services include the provision of specialized mobility and access equipment such as mobility aids, assistive technology, adaptive computers, augmentative communication devices and adaptations to homes and vehicles for wheelchair accessibility.
