Things I love about Northumberland Hills

A somewhat random and ongoing list of thoughts about this area...reasons to be here...places I love...experiences enjoyed...

The Beach! The lakefront in spring, summer, fall or winter.

The Farmer's Market every weekend. The beautiful architecture.

The gorgeously kempt lawns, gardens, many trees, and the abundance of parks and greenery!

The short commute time to and from work.

The Rustic Bean Coffee Company.  91 King St W in Downtown Cobourg. Whether needing a quick to go, or if you have time for Cosy conversation or to sit and enjoy the unplugged music always in the background, you will love the offerings and the contemporary décor and fun, friendly staff. Excellent hot and cold drinks as well as delicious home made lunches and desserts. NOW MOBILE!

The people.

The artists and musicians.

The architecture ~ from Century homes through Vintage and Contemporary. Character homes. Artisan crafted abodes.

The NEW Cobourg Community Centre facility ~ state of the Art, 3 Hockey Arenas, Running/Walking Track, Conference & Seniors Facility, & a large concert hall that can allow us to attract Large acts such as the recent Tragically Hip Concert to our smaller town : )

The Cat & The Fiddle Pub & Restaurant ~ best patio and always comforting with the red velvet bank seating & a wide variety of food offerings from great fish n chips, british meat pies, all the way to  Beef Vindaloo : )

The trees along the downtown Core of Cobourg.

Gould`s shoe store on main street in Port Hope | great selection of quality shoeware and great styles...lovely service.

The rushing Ganaraska river. that flows through Downtown PoHo (Port Hope)

Local90 Restaurant and Bar -- very unique vibe and excellent elixirs and food offerings by some truly unique barrista and chef personalities!

George & Orange (located ironically at the corner of George St and Orange St in Downtown Cobourg)   This is a fantastic spot for creative food and if you enjoy delicious drinking concoctions and elixirs! Nice Mixology and great music, candlelight and cosy dining. Small and casual but fun and vibrant when the crowd gets bigger. Highly recommend!

The Summer Courtyard Series -- music live and dj with some awesome food and beverages at the BEACH in Cobourg.

Sommervilles Sporting Goods -- looking forward to some bargains at the Annual Sidewalk Sale -- always happy to shop at Sommervilles where you can find great deals and friendly family style service -- and they support so many sports groups in this town. They also do embroidery and printing on shirts! Who knew? Need a bike, sports wear or supplies, they are your people.

Green Canoe Outfitters -- such a wonderful crew of people who know first hand about their business -- they walk (and hike and kayak and paddle board and surf) the walk and talk the talk of their business. Def a great place for all your fav outdoor brands and some you never heard of -- they are cutting edge for all things outdoor for fun or fashion or supplies!
