The most recent numbers of sales, listings and prices are encouraging for the Halifax Metro area. The national news tells us the market activity is down, however here in Metro we finished the summer with listings only slightly below last years and sales were off by less than 3%. The real good news for us is that prices are up slightly over last year. The most important factor to consider is that it takes longer to sell a house now than it did a year ago. Sellers must be more patient. In order to sell in a shorter period of time seller`s must be prepared to list at the lower end of the scale. With the Bank of Canada holding mortgage rates at current levels we beleive the fall market should be a good one in the Halifax Metro area.
