Every client has their own reasons for buying or selling real estate at any given time. Helping my clients solve their challenges, making their dreams come true and helping them make money in real estate is my passion.
I sold real estate in Edmonton for 8 years before moving to the lower mainland. Selling real estate in the middle of the "leaky condo" disaster sharpened my skills not only in selling strata properties but also putting me through a huge learning curve for building and structural issues. I moved to Vernon in 2005 and decided to try my hand at commercial real estate from 2006 - 2009. Although I loved the challenge commercial sales brought into my life, I missed the warm connection I shared with residential clients. I returned to residential sales in late 2009 with no regrets. All of this diversity in my sales career, gives my clients a huge advantage when they deal with me. I have experience in all aspects of real estate and bring that expertise to the table with every client I work with.
I invest in real estate, renovating and flipping homes as well as owning rental properties. Using my own experience to help others investing in real estate is a real joy for me. Whether this is your first investment property or you have many, I can help you avoid costly mistakes and timing issues.
I was born and raised in Ontario, east of Toronto, one of five children. After attending University of Toronto I worked in the computer department at Stelco Steel in Hamilton. Moving to Edmonton, AB in 1989, I became a drywall taper, running a residential construction company with my brother. Times were different then, in all the jobs I worked, I only met one other female tradesperson! While I was building houses for other people, I was also building a revenue property portfolio for myself. I was fascinated with researching, negotiating and managing my real estate properties as a hobby. Finally the facination won me over and I stopped building houses and starting selling them, becoming a licenced Realtor in 1992.
I attended University of Toronto specializing in Math, Computer Science and Business.
I am a firm believer in Real Estate Continued Education and every year take far more than the required number of Real Estate courses to stay current in my profession. I have taken courses in both Basic and Advanced Condominiums, Ethics, Contracts, Agency, Risk Management, Contaminated Sites, Buyer Agency, Selling Tenanted Properties, Trends and of course Legal Update every year.
I have a heart for women less fortunate than myself. I am a board member of NOYFSS, North Okanagan Youth and Family Services Society ( www.noyfss.org ) which supports families in the Vernon area. I am also a strong supporter of Century 21's local charity, Easter Seals Send a Kid to Camp! A portion of each of my commission cheques goes to Easter Seals to help send a local kid to camp in Winfield.
I am active in many women's organizations and was a nominee for 2009 Woman of the Year!
I enjoy travelling, cooking, designing and sewing my own clothing, antique collecting, knitting and gardening. Currently I am renovating my LOG home.
While I have already traveled to many parts of the United States, Mexico, Hawaii, England, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, one of my favourite places to visit is Italy and in particular, Sardinia. With my aunt and cousins all living there, trips to Sardinia are much more than just a vacation!
In 2011 I bought my first motorcycle, a Honda Shadow 750 ACE and then decided I had better get my motorcycle licence! I was sure I would love riding my Shadow but was unprepared for the incredible joy riding would bring me. Every year I now upgrade my bike and plan motorcycle trips. In 2013 I rode through norther BC, Yukon, NWT and Alaska. What a trip!
Last year, I decided I was ready to move up (for most people that means a bigger house, but not me!). I found a gorgeous Yamaha V Star 1100 in cherry red. So now I have a new favourite ride!
