Welcome - I would love to work with you!
Every client has their own reasons for buying or selling real estate at any given time. Helping my clients solve their challenges, making their dreams come true and helping them make money in real estate is my passion. I sold real estate in Edmonton for 8 years before moving to the lower mainland. Selling real estate in the middle of the "leaky condo" disaster sharpened my skills not only in selling strata properties but also putting me through a huge learning curve for building and structural issues. I moved to Vernon in 2005 and sold commercial real estate from 2006 - 2009 but I missed the warm connection I shared with residential clients. I returned to residential sales with no regrets. All of this diversity, gives my clients a huge advantage when we work together. I have experience in all aspects of real estate and bring that expertise to the table with every client I work with. I invest in real estate myself, renovating and flipping houses as well as owning rental properties. Using my own experience to help others investing in real estate is a real joy for me.
Consumers are in for a very big SHOCK!
My Whole Family (almost) at My Mom's 90th Birthday Party!
I was born and raised in Ontario, east of Toronto, one of five children. After attending University of Toronto I worked in the computer department at Stelco Steel in Hamilton. Moving to Edmonton, AB in 1989, I became a drywall taper, running a residential construction company with my brother. While I was building houses for other people, I was also building a revenue property portfolio for myself. I was fascinated with researching, negotiating and managing my real estate properties as a hobby. Finally, the fascination won me over and I stopped building houses and starting selling them, becoming a licenced Realtor in 1992.
We even have a town named after us...well maybe not really after us!
I attended University of Toronto specializing in Math, Computer Science and Business.
I am a firm believer in Real Estate Continued Education and every year take far more than the required number of Real Estate courses to stay current in my profession. I have taken courses in both Basic and Advanced Condominiums, Ethics, Contracts, Agency, Risk Management, Contaminated Sites, Buyer Agency, Selling Tenanted Properties, Trends and of course Legal Update every year.
Time to Give Back!
Over the years, I have watched many people come into the Real Estate profession only to struggle to the point where sadly, most left the industry. In 2016, I decided I had learned enough lessons in the Real Estate "School of Hard Knocks" to help new REALTORS get started in the business. I developed a coaching program and approached management about testing it on a couple of our new REALTORS®. Everything I had learned about prospecting, developing a client base, scripts, objection handling and client retention I passed on to help get their businesses off the ground. And to my great surprise - it was highly successful and I LOVED COACHING! It was like I was born to do this! I now not only coach all new REALTORS® coming into our offices but teach those that are preparing to write the Real Estate exam.
Community & Industry Involvement
I have a heart for women less fortunate than myself. I am a board member of NOYFSS, North Okanagan Youth and Family Services Society ( www.noyfss.org ) which supports families in the Vernon area. I am also a strong supporter of Century 21's local charity, Easter Seals Send a Kid to Camp! A portion of each of my commission cheques goes to Easter Seals to help send a local, disabled kid to camp in Winfield. In 2015 I was elected to the Okanagan Mainline Real Estate board as one of their directors. In 2017, I was accepted on to our board's Professional Conduct Committee. Taking an active role in the direction organized Real Estate is going and giving back to my profession, is very important to me.
I am active in many women's organizations and was a nominee for 2009 Woman of the Year.
I enjoy travelling, cooking, designing and sewing my own clothing, antique collecting and knitting. Currently I am renovating my LOG home and LOVE to decorate it for all the seasons.
In 2011 I bought my first motorcycle, a Honda Shadow 750 ACE and then decided I had better get my motorcycle licence! I was sure I would love riding but was unprepared for the incredible joy riding would bring me. Every year I now plan a motorcycle trip. In 2013 I rode through northern BC, Yukon, NWT and Alaska. What a trip! In 2014 I rode through northern BC, Prince Rupert, Haida Gwaii and all over Vancouver Island.
