Derryanne began her real estate career in 1992 in Edmonton with the successful completion of a number of stratification projects. Although she enjoyed her career, vacations in BC every summer began to draw her westward.
She moved to BC and specialized in the challenging condominium market of Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond and New Westminster areas. Derryanne developed extensive experience with leaky condos and prides herself on never selling any of her clients a condo that "leaked"!!
Desiring a more balanced lifestyle, Derryanne moved to Vernon and continued selling real estate. In 2006 Derryanne changed her focus from residential to commercial real estate specializing in leasing, multi-family properties, businesses, commercial buildings and land development. Missing the connection she felt with her residential clients, Derryanne returned to her first love, residential real estate.
Every client has their own reasons for buying or selling. Helping her clients solve their challenges, making their dreams come true and helping them make money in real estate is Derryanne's passion. First time buyers, eager to learn and looking for guidance at every step of the way are some of her favourite clients. Taking her time to walk them through the process, explaining the "why" of each step and helping them make informed choices is one of Derryanne's specialties.
She also likes to work with investors, creating money making portfolios of rental properties. Knowing when to buy and when to sell is key to any investor. Derryanne makes sure all her investors are up to date on the current market conditions.
Derryanne herself invests in real estate, buying and flipping homes and owning rental properties, so using her experience to help others do the same is one of the ways she likes to give back to her clients. Whether this is your first investment property or you have many, Derryanne can help you avoid costly mistakes and timing issues.
Derryanne attended University of Toronto specializing in Math, Computer Science and Business.
She is a firm believer in Real Estate Continued Education and every year takes far more than the required number of Real Estate courses to stay current in her profession. She has taken courses in both Basic and Advanced Condominiums, Ethics, Contracts, Agency, Risk Management, Contaminated Sites, Buyer Agency, Selling Tenanted Properties and of course Legal Update every year.
Derryanne has a heart for women less fortunate than herself. She is a board member of NOYFSS, North Okanagan Youth and Family Services Society( www.noyfss.livingpositive.ca ) which supports families in the Vernon area. Derryanne is also a strong supporter of our local charity, Easter Seals Send a Kid to Camp! A portion of each of her commission cheques goes to Easter Seals to help send a local kid to camp in Winfield.
Derryanne is active in many women's organizations and was a nominee for 2009 Woman of the Year!
Derryanne was born and raised in Ontario, east of Toronto one of five children. After attending University of Toronto she became a computer programer for Stelco Steel in Hamilton. Moving to Edmonton, AB in 1989, Derryanne opened her own design and manufacturing company. Although she loved her business, Derryanne was also building a revenue property portfolio. Not a realtor at this time, she was facinated with the process of researching and negotiating her real estate properties as a hobby. Finally the facination won out and she became licenced in 1992.
.
Derryanne enjoys travelling, cooking, designing and sewing her own clothing, antique collecting, knitting and gardening. Currently she is renovating her log home.
While she has already travelled to many parts of the United States, Mexico, Hawaii, England, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, one of her favourite places to visit is Italy and in particular, Sardinia. With her aunt and cousins all living there, trips to Sardinia are much more than just a vacation!
In 2011 Derryanne bought her first motorcycle, a Honda Shadow 750 and then acquired her motorcycle licence. She was sure she would love riding her bike but was unprepared for the incredible joy riding would bring her. Every year she is now upgrading her bike and planning motorcycle trips.
