Kamloops has been know as the Tournament Capital of Canada since 2001. The City of Kamloops offers World Class Facilities and has recently built The Torunament Capital Center that is located next to TRU.

Thompson River University, located on the hillside overlooking the City of Kamloops, continues to expand with the addition of a New Law School that began in September 2011 with many other programs to follow in the future.

Kamloops is Trisected by 3 major Highways. The Trans-Canada Highway, the Yellowhead Highway and the Coquihalla Highway and is bisected by Canada’s two railways.

Kamloops’ name is dervied from a version on the Shuswap word "Tk'emlúps" which means “meeting of the waters”. Kamloops is built in the valley of the mountains and along the North and SouthThompson Rivers.
