Thompson Rivers University has two Campuses. The Main Campus is located in Kamloops and the other campus is located in Williams Lake. TRU (Thompson Rivers University) also offers the Open Learning Program (distance education). It is British Columbia's center for Distance Education. This program offers 40 programs with over 400 courses.

Thompson Rivers University sits on the mountains on the South Side of Kamloops overlooking the City to the North and East.

The University transitioned in September 2004 from the University College of the Cariboo to the a full fledged University that offers Traditional Degree Programs with a unique combination of Diploma and Certificate programs that can be laddered into Degree Completion.

The Kamloops Campus currently offers over 80 different Programs with the newest addition being the Law Degree Program that began in September 2011.
