YOU ASKED....

.What are my/our options? After working hard all your lives, you’ve raised your family and watch your children get married, have children of their own and at last have the opportunity to retire. With good health and that ‘one day’ bank account - perhaps you will take that wonderful trip to Europe to see where your parents came from - maybe rent that RV for the cross Canada trip you always talked about. Perhaps your 2-3 level house seem a lot bigger than you really need and those stairs are becoming a problem. Are you thinking the garden has become more work than pleasure and just don’t want to do it anymore? You ask… what are my options? The good news is we are living in 2016 - a world of many options and solutions. For a reasonable cost, many problems can easily be over come. IE: With a ‘stair chair’ (inside or out) you can illuminate the problem of getting up/down stairs. A cage-lift can not only bring you up a deck (outside), it is a great way to get the groceries in. If the thought of dealing with all the shopping is becoming something you dread - many stores such as Safeway, Thrifty’s, etc will home deliver and bring them right into your kitchen for a minimal fee. There are low cost house cleaners that will help once a week or every two with a good floor scrub etc. There are low cost assistants that will take you to the doctors, get your prescriptions filled and make you a cup of tea when they bring you home. There are even services that will bring and set up computer video/audio calls for you with friends and family that live far away, or ‘hook’ you up, so you can watch your grandchildren get married, in the case of not able to go to the wedding. 2016 offers a great many inexpensive solutions to adjusting to aging without selling your home. If none of these solutions work for you, there are wonderful local retirement suites that not only solved all of the above concerns, they offer entertainment and a great social atmosphere. Until next time,
