Lloydminster, SK

Straddling the border of Alberta and Saskatchewan, the city of Lloydminster is a vibrant business centre. Lloydminster is home to 27,800 residents, and our story began near the turn of the 20th century when British immigrants chose to call this area home. Today Lloydminster is a noted as a regional centre in both the agriculture, and oil sectors. Lloydminster has been to known to have a catchment area approaching 125,000 which is largely created by the fact that we are 230 kilometers away from two major commercial centres of Alberta and Saskatchewan – Edmonton and Saskatoon. The proximity has helped turn Lloydminster into a service centre for municipalities, villages and towns within a 125 km radius.

Currently Lloydminster is the only city in Saskatchewan or Alberta that operates with its own charter, and functions under both the Cities Act (Saskatchewan) and the Municipal Government Act (Alberta). The border city operates with one city hall, and is licensed to do business in both provinces.

Being part of Canada’s two strongest provincial economies does offer great opportunity for business and lifestyle in Lloydminster.
