October MLS® Home Price Index (HPI)

While sales are declining, analysts expect House Prices will keep rising until the inventory meets current demand levels. The October MLS® Home Price Index (HPI) increased 5.1 per cent year-over-year. This composite index allows an apple to apples comparison of benchmark home prices from one year to the next and shows the price changes from the 2005 benchmark price base. The Index removes the influence of home sales that would skew average and median price data.
