The gap between new home prices in Regina and Saskatoon is continuing to close. When the residential real estate market took off a couple of years ago Saskatoon seemed to catch the wave before Regina did. As a result home prices in the Bridge City moved up quite a bit more significantly than those in the Queen City. The end result was that there was a considerable difference in home prices, especially for new houses in Saskatoon. Since the market began to stabilize a bit last year, the gap between the two cities has now narrowed.
According to the latest survey of new home prices across the country, a new build in Saskatoon is 12% cheaper than it was at this time a year ago. On the other hand, Regina is still seeing prices steadily increase (prices last year increased by 5%).
