Pioneer Park is located in very close proximity to the 401 and boasts of homes that were predominately built in the seventies and eighties. One of the best features of this area is an active community centre called Doon Pioneer Park Community Association (DPPCA).

The DPPCA is a community association recognized by the City of Kitchener.  Their mandate is to provide recreation programming and to encourage residents of all ages to be actively engaged in the community life. All residents of the Doon Pioneer Park Community (see boundary map) are members of the DPPCA. Every year at their Annual General Meeting (usually held in April) they elect a volunteer Board of Directors to run the Association and to oversee its programs and events. Anyone who lives within the boundaries of the DPPCA and who is 18 years of age or older can be nominated for a position on the Board and can vote at the AGM.
