Finished the Ride to Conquer Cancer yesterday with team members Lee Pettersen, undergoing treatment at Princess Margaret, and Doug Palmer, a cancer survivor, leading the way of our 33 strong team. Estimated eight to ten thousand people at the finish line. 3,500 riders raised $14.5 million, the largest single fundraising event in Canadian history! This is a worthy cause and a great experience, so if you are at all capable of doing this ride, it will be a cherished memory. The ride included nine blind riders, two parapelic riders, and cancer researchers from around the world! The ride for me was in honour of many people, however suffice it to say here, on this site, that it was in honour of Michael Anderson, a courageous fighter and brother of co-worker Joan Newman.

I will leave you with but just one image from the ride and that is of team member Doug Palmer, riding with one hand behind the back of team member Lee Pettersen (who did all but 22k of the 211k ride), pushing her as she was riding to reach to top of a hill....that about says it all!
