For the week ending August 14, New Listings in the Saskatoon region were 20.5 percent higher than last year at this time, with 212 new homes coming onto the market.
Buyer activity remained below last year's levels for the fifth consecutive week, but improved over last week. There were 97 Firm Sales recorded, down 15.7 percent when compared to the same week in 2009.

Housing Starts ahead of ‘09 in the Prairies
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. (CMHC) released a report showing that homebuilders had a busy July in Saskatoon and Regina.
Year to date, Regina has seen an increase of 61.6% in housing starts.

The Regina Leader Post reports that construction projects such as the Harbour Landing development are contributing to strong numbers for Regina in terms of the total value of building permits. In April, the Saskatoon region noted a nearly 100 per cent increase in the value of all building permits over the same month last year.

Was out and about in Hampton this past weekend. Big new development just getting underway at the south entrance to the area.. The neighbours tell me it's the new Shoppers Drug Mart. Significant for the area as it's first 'commercial' development. Also be significant for adjacent neighbourhoods like Dundonald and Westview.
