Road Closure/Starts tomorrow in Hampton Village area

Intersection of McClocklin Road and Claypool Drive Closed August 10 to 15 for Pipeline Installation - Blairmore Force Main Project Begins
For Immediate Release:  August 9, 2011

Starting on Wednesday, August 10 until Monday, August 15, the intersection of McClocklin Road and Claypool Drive will be completely closed to traffic to facilitate a pipeline installation across McClocklin Road south of Claypool Drive. The work is part of the Blairmore Force Main Project.

The closure will prevent access to and from the Hampton Village area from Airport Drive. Hampton Village residents will need to access the area/subdivision from either 33rd Street or Confederation Drive.

The Blairmore Force Main Project involves the construction of a 13.7 km long pipeline that will run from the future Blairmore neighbourhood west of Hughes Drive to the Marquis Industrial area near Wanuskewin Road.

The pipeline will provide sanitary trunk sewer servicing for the future Kensington and Blairmore neighbourhoods, and will provide flood protection for the Confederation neighbourhood and the area west of 33rd Street. It will also help relieve the current main sewer interceptor by re-routing sanitary sewage loadings from the Confederation neighbourhood, which will allow for future downtown development.

The entire Blairmore Force Main Project is scheduled to be completed in December 2012; however, this date is subject to change due to inclement weather and barring unforeseen circumstances.

Motorists are reminded to allow extra time for travelling, and obey all detours, signs, and barrier
