Traffic Signal Installation Begins at Intersection of Cynthia Street and Avenue C
For Immediate Release:  August 3, 2011

Starting in early August, work will begin on the installation of traffic signals at the intersection of Cynthia Street and Avenue C. With the recent development in the Hampton Village neighbourhood and the connection of Cynthia Street through to Airport Drive, traffic signals are now required to assist in the assignment of right-of-way at the intersection.

The work includes installation of underground ducts and cables and above ground poles and signals. There are no planned closures of the roadway during construction, however, there may be minor disruptions at various times to traffic flow through the intersection(s) as portions of some lanes will be closed to allow for equipment and trucks to be positioned for construction and equipment installations. All work is scheduled during the daytime hours, with minimal noise, and no loss of access to property.

The signalized intersection is expected to be fully functional by the fall, weather permitting and barring unforeseen circumstances.

Motorists are reminded to please drive carefully, obey all road restrictions and watch for work crews in the area.
