11th Street between Avenue W and Dundonald Avenue will reopen to traffic during the week of November 28. Crews are currently completing the installation of the railway signal and traffic signal communication systems. Additional construction work on 11th Street will occur in 2012, including the construction of a pedestrian pathway.
Lorne Avenue between Jasper Avenue and Melville Street will remain closed over the winter. High groundwater conditions south of Circle Drive slowed the installation of the storm sewer in this section of roadway, such that the roadway surface could not be constructed in time for the roadway to be reopened to traffic in 2011. Lorne Avenue will be reopened to traffic in spring 2012.
Spadina Crescent between Schulyer Street and the Queen Elizabeth Power Plant will reopen to traffic in early December. The roadway will be temporarily closed again in spring 2012 to accommodate the completion of paving work in the vicinity of the new river crossing bridge.
Fletcher Road between Dudley Street and Dundonald Avenue will be permanently closed to traffic on December 5. The closure is required to allow the construction of the Circle Drive freeway through this area.
The Circle Drive South Project is Saskatoon’s most massive infrastructure project, involving a new south bridge, 5 interchanges, 3 railway grade separations, and 10 kilometres of freeway. The project will open on September 30, 2012. The Project Hotline is always open for recent updates and traffic detours at 1-888-851-5303
