City Information
Richmond, BC

Richmond is a unique coastal city,  favourably located near downtown Vancouver and the U.S. border,  in the province of British Columbia.  The city comprises most of the islands in the Fraser River delta and has rich alluvial soil for agriculture such as cranberries and blueberries.  Richmond lies where the river meets the ocean with the beautiful coastal mountains as a backdrop.

Visitors to Richmond enjoy a temperate climate with mild to warm summer temperatures and little to no snow most winters.  This weather is ideal for enjoying the numerous dyke trails and parks in the city.  A dynamic multi-ethnic community with excellent restaurants, unique historic sites, beautiful parks and gardens, home to  the Vancouver International Airport and the Richmond Olympic Oval.

Overview

City Centre OverviewRichmond is a culturally diverse and geographically unique community centrally located on Canada's West Coast, in Metro Vancouver, 20 minutes from Downtown Vancouver, and 25 minutes from the US border.

Richmond has been experiencing growth and change with remarkable speed, transforming from a rural, local community to an international city with a balance of urban, sub-urban family, and rural areas. The continuing development of the City's downtown core and waterfront areas, and the recently completed construction of the Canada Line rapid transit system and the Richmond Olympic Oval for the 2010 Winter Games, ensures that Richmond's transformation is ongoing.

Please see our City Profile for a more detailed description of our City's location, population and geography, and our many cultural and recreational amenities.

Sometimes timing is everything. I have driven down Steveston Highway countless times...but tonight I caught the sky at sunset just as the world was turning pink. How lucky that my last appointment was so close to the dyke at the west end of Steveston Highway that I could see the panoramic version.  On the dyke at the west end of Steveston Highway
